I have forwarded your e-mail to the leaf-developer list. While there are versions of LEAF that use IPTables (as well as older versions with IPChains), perl is typically not available on the firewall due to the small run-time footprint typical of most LEAF systems (the general goal is a compete system that fits on 1 or 2 floppy disks).

Your log analyzer looks interesting, however, and many LEAF users do have access to full-installs of linux which would be able to run perl based applications.

Hi;

I am the project admin and main developer for another Sourceforge project you might find useful. I noticed that LEAF was a firewall appliance (I assume with IPTables) and I was wondering if you have any means for firewall reports to be emailed to the administrator. You have to admit that iptables' log entries are not the most easy-to-read things in the world. FWReport allows these reports to be generated and sent via Cron.

My project is a Perl script which parses the log file and can be used to generate daily and monthly reports. It features rdns lookup, service lookup, and port-by-port reporting. The address of the project page is:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/fwreport/

I hope you find it useful.

Best Wishes,
Chris Travers
