Heyaz. Remember the 'Grand New Firewall Paradigm'
thread? :) My latest contribution to the embers:
http://leaf.sourceforge.net/pub/devel/sbest/EchoWall_0.51.tgz
EchoWall is a three-piece firewall: a .conf file,
a ruleset, and a script which munges the two. At the
very least, the rulefile might prove useful to some of
you who like to review such things.
As you'll see in the .conf file, EchoWall uses
MACID's as a 'persistent' tag for what LAN machine gets
what service port-forwarded to it. To convert MACID's
to IP-Addresses it utilizes Ray Olszewski's 'gatping'
utility. That utility is part of the EchoWall tarball;
it includes an ELF glibc2.1 binary (all I got here).
Hope it proves useful!
cheers,
Scott
