No need to be friendly, just ask. This is what I used:

1. A stock 2.4.3 kernel

2.The initrd and linuxrc patches found here: (all kudos to Charles for
adapting it to the 2.4 kernels)
   http://leaf.sourceforge.net/devel/cstein/files/kernels/2.4.0-test11/
<http://leaf.sourceforge.net/devel/cstein/files/kernels/2.4.0-test11/>

3. Some patches from the iptables-1.2.1a path-o-matic. If you use these
you should be able to use my iptables.lrp package found here

http://leaf.sourceforge.net/devel/ewaldw/
When configuring your kernel you'll need to say yes to these: (isn't
there some FAQ of this?)

- RAM disk support
   - Initial RAM disk support
       - Initial RAM disk archive (untar) support
       - Initial RAM disk minix autofs support

Please keep in mind that this is NOT production quality software.
