NSL appears to be the NIS Support Library; The Name Service Switch is
supported by the libnssl (Name Service Switch Library) and all of the
other libnss* files. The only functions in libnsl were yp_*
functions...
There are some binaries (packages) that need it, but I suspect all of
them likely use it for NIS, and I suspect that a recompile without NIS
support will get rid of that dependency. I also suspect that as long
as the NIS support functions are never used, then there will be no
missing library problems and errors.
The only binary I can remember that had support was cpio, but there
was about three or four.
