I can see the reasoning behind that (119 bytes versus 50+ kB is rather
nice). But I'd like to suggest that you (or whoever will make those changes,
if they're done at all) add a note to the readme (or somewhere else) so
people will know where to get the full version - the current version of the
applet (0.9 is getting close to release) has quite a bit added functionality
that only works with the C-Program, and not with the shell-script (mainly
ISDN related stuff, but with 0.9 there'll also be info on processor usage).
And of course, people will need to know where they can actually get the
files to install on the client.
It should also be pointed out in the docs that the monitor can also be run
as an applet. I prefer running it as an application myself, but there are
times when it's handy to be able to check the router from _any_ computer
with a browser installed (without having to worry about installing java
runtimes first).
Oh, and if it is indeed included, I'd suggest modifying /etc/hosts.allow to
also include stat.sh - since that's been a source of problems for many
users.
Anyway, I'd be happy if the monitor applet seems to be useful enough to be
included in the next ES2B release, I just want to avoid too many "your
applet doesn't work on Dachstein" questions ;-)
