I propose the following updates to packages, and would like to start
using them:

<pkg>.sh Shell script which takes a
              parameter - one of:
              preinst postinst prerem postrem
              ...executed by apkg at times indicated

<pkg>.desc    Conf file describing package:
              Description: <blah>
              Packager: Leonard U. Ser <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
              Group: Net/Diagnostics

<pkg>.req Package list: these must already be installed

These enhancements will allow:

* Restarts of currently running daemons
* HTML pages with full descriptions, etc.
* Packager can specify package group (saves grouping problems)

I've already begun using the following enhancement:

<pkg>.md5 MD5 sum of all files in package

The beauty is, lrpkg SHOULD just ignore all these enhancements.

Anybody do any work on lrpkg to make it not ralph if <pkg>.help and/or
<pkg>.version are missing?  lrpkg should not fail for ANY reason;
otherwise it is buggy software. I should be able to throw most any
trash at it, and not see it fall over dead. apkg was designed with this
in mind.

Anybody planning to use apkg with Dachstein?
