George Metz and Charles Steinkuehler have done it; George posted his to
his web site on http://leaf.sourceforge.net (look for developer links at
the bottom).

The glibc 2.1 update was amazingly smooth. I've been working on a
serious setup program for a while now.
I tried compiling 2.4.6 (with lots of modules) and the modules failed to
compile: video and audio modules caused lots of problems. My usual way
to compile is to strip all the modules unnecessary and it strips down
the size entirely (i.e., NO support instead of MODULE support...)
Things like Linux Telephony, QoS, and ArcNet may get axed then...
I haven't decided if I'll update to 2.4 and glibc 2.2, or release first,
or update to just glibc 2.2. I'm leaning toward the latter - update to
glibc 2.2 and release.

Linux 2.4 is NOT going to be supported until 2.4.10 or so.
Perhaps a very good reason to stay at 2.2, hmmm?
