I don't know.  The busybox unrpm (or is it rpmunpack) will only unpack
RPMs; I understand the newer dpkg will do more, but I'm not sure what.

I don't know that much about (the original) dpkg and the package format;
I've used RPM, and built quite a few RPMs and find it to be very
powerful and useful, and have found dpkg to be counter-intuitive in many
places (as is dselect).

I wondered about using RPMs, but as I said that appears to be unpack
only.  apkg is better as it supports (using the shell) more powerful
applications such as the <pkg>.sh extension, md5sums, and more.
