I am releasing -- to you, per your request -- my three (3) leaf/lrp
packages based on NET-SNMP. Descriptions for each package follow.

For whatever reason, I cannot get cvs access
<http://leaf.sourceforge.net/devel/helices> -- anybody know what I need
to do to become a card carrying leaf developer?

Notice, I have successfully tested substantial functionality of netsnmp
and netsnmpd; but, I have no current infrastructure to adequately test
nettrapd.

Also, notice that I do not believe in community string `public'. Hence,
users *must* edit /usr/share/snmp/*.conf _prior_ to successfully doing
anything with any of these packages!

As always, constructive feedback and bug reports are welcome and
invited.

What do you think?

netsnmp.lrp

        SNMP toolkit provides a suite of command line applications
        that can be used to query and act on remote SNMP agents.

        <http://net-snmp.sourceforge.net/#Documentation>
        <http://net-snmp.sourceforge.net/man/snmpcmd.html>

        NOTE: netsnmpd.lrp *MUST* be installed prior
              to installing netsnmp.lrp

netsnmpd.lrp

        SNMP agent which binds to a port, awaits requests from SNMP management
        software & broadcasts snmp traps according to its known MIB's

        <http://net-snmp.sourceforge.net/man/snmpd.html>

        NOTE: This package *MUST* be installed prior to installing these:
                netsnmp.lrp
                nettrapd.lrp

nettrapd.lrp

        SNMP application that receives and logs snmp trap messages sent to
        the SNMP-TRAP port (default udp 162) on the local machine.

        <http://net-snmp.sourceforge.net/man/snmptrapd.html>

        NOTE: netsnmpd.lrp *MUST* be installed prior
              to installing nettrapd.lrp

Dare to fix things before they break . . .

Our capacity for understanding is inversely proportional to how much we
think we know.  The more I know, the more I know I don't know . . .
