Hi all,

I don't know if this problem is already well known or not, but I
couldn't find it discussed anywhere so I'm posting it here just in case.

I have been using Bering 1.0 rc3 with the latest version of shorewall
(1.3.8) and have run into problems when I back up the shorewall lrp
package. After the backup, the /var/lib/shorewall directory in the
shorewall.lrp is missing, and shorewall fails to start because the
/var/lib/shorewall/functions file is missing.

I tracked this down and found out the reason this is happening is that
the root.lrp package contains a /var/lib/shorewall entry in its
root.exclude.list file. Removing this line causes the shorewall backup
to work just fine. However, this directory will now be included in the
root.lrp backup! I think the backup script needs to be fixed to address
this case. If this has already been figured out and fixed, please let me
know. Otherwise I may try my hand at fixing this myself..

Thanks,
Edwin
