My "private" Bering uclibc version is running stable since July and includes: mawk, tc, bridge, ezipupd, weblet, root, log, etc, shorwall, local, initrd, dhcpd, pump, dnscache (and dhcpcd and dnsmasq). All the sources are from debian (the most recent versions). Compiling them against uClibc was not a big issue, the most programs compiles out of the box. There are a few minor issues: making symbolic links from stdin, stdout and stderr to fd/0 .. fd/2 (root.dev.mk) give problems with logging-in, so I removed them. I think it's got something todo with tmpfs and the implementation of termios in uClibc (well, Erik Anderson thinks it's got something todo with termios, i'm not a verry good programmer :-) Maybe it's fixed in the next version of uClibc. An other issue is that I don't have the modified sources of ifupdown, so i includes busybox's ifconfig and route. But the complete Bering uClibc router is still a lot smaller than the original one (and the "old" ifconfig and route programs are still handy).
I have a complete source tree for the primary Bering stuff, so maybe it's time to put them in CVS. > > I've run a uClibc-based LEAFoid firewall for more than a year.
