Thank-you for your input and thorough description. It is much appreciated,
as are MDS's experiences. It is nice for some people with similar
experiences to share their thoughts and input. I'm going to back off
and let some other people share their thoughts.

Yes, but can you format a floppy fat32 (vfat)??? 
It really depends on what 'syslinux' will support.
