Hi Mike and others;
FWReport by default uses /var/log/messages as the source of its records. However, the more recent versions can use the -s swich to read from STDIN. This means that one can use other programs to concatinate, filter, or retrieve records from a variety of sources. The request for ssh support is being taken under consideration. If I can find a reasonalbe way of scripting it, I will probably just write a whitepaper on intigrating these solutions. If not, I will find a way of supporting ssh in one way or another.
Currently, FWReport is tested on syslog files on English-localized systems only. However patches have been provided for translating Portugese date abreviations into English ones so that syslog and date can be used together with the program. Currently it is intended to be run with date, syslog, and IPTables. As of 1.1.2, Portugese localization will be experimentally supported. I see no reason why other logging programs would not be work, but I do not have the resources to test them.
The focus of 1.1.x has been the development of a flexible system for obtaining log entries. 1.2.x will focus on greater flexibility in data analysis and reporting.
I hope this helps to answer any questions. If anyone wants to follow up with me, you can do so off the list.
Best Wishes, Chris Travers [EMAIL PROTECTED]
