Erich;
The reboot program in Bering comes from the Debian/slink halt program:

reboot on Bering:
# ls -la reboot
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root         6876 Jan 16  2002 reboot

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp$ md5sum reboot
947aca8e73ae7b055719ad4dc05afc92  reboot

The /sbin/halt binary on Debian/slink has exactly the same characteristics.
It comes from the sysvinit_2.76-3 Debian package
The source is available here:
Debian ftp site:
ftp.debian.org
Directory:
debian-archive/dists/slink/main/source/base
