Hi Eric,
(off list we may speak German, if you prefer - makes no difference to me though).
Honestly, no - but then, I haven't seen many mini-PCI cards from intel (all that I've seen is a replacement part for IBM notebooks, with some strange sounding antenna-jack).We're using Netgate cards at the office (their 802.11b and 802.11g cards, including the antennas from them - basically, we just ordered the kits). Both work flawlessly in a pretty tough environment (like, they perform well despite 3 rather thick concrete walls with lots of steel between them). But they are somewhat pricy.
Yes, they are, powerful though, have you ever considered the intel card?
The reason we went with Netgate was that we knew they worked with linux (unlike some other cards, which seem to be constantly changing the chipset they use) and that one of the Netgate tech-guys is frequently helping out on the soekris list, so we knew where to go in case of trouble (much better than some braindead hotline).
Do you have something specific model of card in mind (preferrably one that can actually be bought in Europe?)
The Intel Pro Wireless, Intel apparently provides a GPL'ed driver
