Hi all; after some comments about the "wrecked" Bering-uClibc 2.2 ISO image, I looked again into Charles changes to linuxrc and leafcfg.
I replaced in syslinux.cfg for the ISO image LEAFCFG=/dev/fd0:msdos with LEAFCFG=/dev/cdrom:iso9660 and the image boots without floppy (with some errors messages due to missing floppy) into a login prompt - no more kernel panic! Next I inserted a blank floppy before booting, the errors have been gone, and I was able to backup successfully to the floppy (though it wasn't the default device - had to change with "d - package no.). Reboot restored the changed settings. Last test - I inserted the floppy after boot: as expected the same error messages, but it's possible to save to the floppy, if I choose "custom destination" in the "Set Backup Destination" dialog Backup "initrd" is only available with a floppy inserted during boot. I admit, I haven't understood the capabilities of Charles work before completly - I still may be missing some of the "hidden features". Kudos to Charles for his work and sorry, that I haven't catched that before. kp ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: YOU BE THE JUDGE.
