So I guess that's a "no" - i.e. nobody else has tried this already.

I successfully got the code to compile with no problems at all.

Running it is a different matter; the code identifies the device but
then fails to establish USB communications. There's a call to
pthread_create() and the USB connection attempt is immediately after
that, which may be a coincidence or it may point to a problem with
pthread_create() in uClibc (there are some reports of issues in other
mailing lists).

I will investigate further when I have more time.
