I think, if moddb.lrp is missing during installation LEAF Bering-uClibc is broken anyway. I assume that USB keyboards fail in the case the, if something goes wrong between loading the kernel/initrd/initmod from syslinux.cfg and the rest of the packages - so users won't be able to use a USB keyboard to see what happened. Something to think about - on the other hand, I have only limited experience, but if a box only supports USB keyboards (like the raspberry pi) AFAIR, USB keyboards are supported before we load the modules. In that case I don't think it's a showstopper.
