I believe it is, lots of them are very specific, especially for geode. Well we won't need most of the geode modules for ALIX if that is the target system > >>>> upgrade would take care of that :-) >>> >>> How? :) >> >> Magic :-) the code reads the dependencies. >> >>> We have also the option to check for wget(-ssl) and libssl, and if not >>> present give the advice to install it with apkg -i only for the upgrade >>> process. Ugly because it needs intervention by the user. Just imagine to have to tell your mother to do that. The commercial small routers, APs and whatnot all have integrated download. LEAF is more flexible. If you are afraid of just having wget everywhere, we could use a perl module, although I would hate that. It is not more safe and just plain ugly. >> Ugly, what is wrong to just have wget (with ssl) . If you want to have upgrade, you need a download method. If you are restricted to ssl you need the corresponding library. Pretty simple. As I only have embeded systems I tend to believe that they should be self contained to the utmost grade. I might try to build grub.lrp just to be able to wipe my storage clean, repartition, reinstall boot loader and get kernel initrd and packages all on a _running_ LEAF box. cheers ET
