Hi Folks For those of you who read the many messages about upgrading my wireless router to 5.2, here is the explanation of what had happened.
Upgrade used a wong algorithm to combine initrd and initmod, so a number of modules were not loaded. This led to a plethora of weird symptoms which were hard to track to a common reason. After having fixed the erroneous code I soon found the BuC pre_5.2 busybox cpio could not handle initrd correctly, so there is no chance to upgrade from pre_5.2 After booting the system with a console I was capable to add the missing HW modules from the modules.sqfs file which I imported temporarily. I found that those modules were installed, but apparently not copied to /lib/modules, so no luck in saving them to moddb. So I had to find and install them manually again. BuC 5.2 has a bug in dhcpcd so I had to revert to a version this will probably be fixed soon. BuC 5.2 is missing the atheros regdomain patch, which allows the use of channel 12 and 13 on not country specified boards. This is a problem which dates back quite a while and appears to show up on all atheros versions as they share this code. This will probably soon be fixed.
