Michael,
I took a look at the third CD, and there are only a few X11 apps on it. As
Mike Sensney already mentioned, you probably only need the first binary CD.
Slink installation instructions are here:

Debian still maintains an archive of the Slink release at:
http://archive.debian.org/debian-archive/dists/
NOTE:
After installation modify '/etc/apt/sources.list' to look like this:
deb http://archive.debian.org/debian-archive slink contrib main non-free
deb http://archive.debian.org/debian-archive dists/slink-proposed-updates/

Then run:
# apt-get update
# apt-get dist-upgrade
