Thanks for your suggestion, Jeff. However, imap2 is already listed in 
/etc/services as 143. Just for the heck of it, I tried putting "0/0_143" on 
the line defining external tcp services, with the same error message 
appearing. Any other thoughts? Any further info that I might supply that 
would be helpful?
