I have RoadRunner and I am not required to send a user
name as Simon suggested.  I assume your RoadRunner
connection was working before you tried Dachstein. 
Are you using the same ethernet card to connect to
your cablemodem as before?  The ethernet card you use
must be "registered" with RoadRunner first.  Simply
resetting the cablemodem doesn't seem to work (atleast
not for myself).  If you aren't using the original
ethernet card, either try switching cards around or
call RoadRunner and tell them the MAC address of the
new ethernet card.
