Sorry Charles and list,
I probably wasn't very clear with my original post, or I might just be confused. ...again. :-) Is dachstein-rc1 the floppy release candidate intended for personal and small business use? The dachstein-rc1-1680.bin image[1] doesn't include the ip_masq_* modules, like the ftp, h323, quake and portfw, even though pr4 did. I can understand why those might not be on the CD version if it's basically a packaged version of Charles firewalls, but it seems like a lot of home users might want those modules on the floppy version. (What, no Quake?! :-) That said, Dachstein seems to be coming along very nicely. I think I speak for the whole list when I say great job and thank you, Charles. --Brad References: 1. at http://lrp.steinkuehler.net/files/diskimages/dachstein/dachstein-rc1-1680.bin On Mon, 15 Oct 2001 12:51:04 CDT Charles wrote: > > I just upgraded my home firewall from dachstein-pr4 to the > > dachstein-rc1-1680.bin image and I use seawall for firewall rules. > > > > I've noticed that the ip_masq_* modules are not included in the rc1 > > image, which broke the port forwarding to the web server in my DMZ. > > Downloading and loading the ip_masq_portfw.o module from Charles' > > website fixed that. > > > > I didn't see anything about the removal of these modules in the rc1 > > changelog, so I'm guessing their removal might have been accidental. > > This is an undocumented difference in the two distributions.
