I got the dachstein cd v1.0.2 working in the last week, it is great ~ Thank-you!
I decided to make the cd stand-alone to work without a config floppy today. Through some trial and error I got it working, but not without a couple of questions to ask so it can be a little more functional than the present state. Q: The 'bootdisk.bin' image is (after much playing) a dos image of some type, mountable through a msdos loop. I tried at the start to use Winimage and mkisofs to make my own image with no avail. Exactly what are you (Charles) using to make the msdos image? Q: I can load packages out of the 'syslinux.cfg' file fine up to the 255 character line limit, which is where I'm at now. I noticed that the cd had a 'lrpkg.cfg' file in the root directory and I went to use this to bypass the character limit in 'syslinux.cfg', it will not override 'syslinux.cfg' on a stand-alone cd like it did with a config floppy. If it does, I haven't been able to figure out the right combination. Can '/lrpkg.cfg' on the cd do this? If so what is the proper way of doing it? My relevent line in 'syslinux.cfg': default linux append=load_ramdisk=1 initrd=root.lrp initrd_archive=minix ramdisk_size=12288 root=/dev/ram0 boot=/dev/cdrom,iso9660 PKGPATH=/dev/cdrom:iso9660 LRP=etc,ramlog,local,modules,dhclient,dhcpd,dnscache,weblet,lncurses,vim,ifconfig,lynx,lrdline2,bash,libdb,libm,libpcap,nmap Again, this is a simply amazing piece of work and I love it. I would love to get one in a 1U case this week :). Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated. I'll make a howto on the adventure if anyone would find anything to make use of in it. ~Lynn Avants [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- if linux isn't the answer, you've got the wrong question _______________________________________________ Leaf-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/leaf-user
