We must help them learn to be 21st century Internet citizens. My feeling is that with children of this age (mine are 7 and 10), placing the PC in a (slightly) public place (i.e. the living room and not the bedroom) and a bit of looking over the shoulder, combined with talking about the 'dangers' of the 'nasty' bits of the Internet is probably a better solution.
