Hey Joey, The kernel is named linux on the floppy, replace that file with the one you downloaded (you must rename the file you downloaded 'linux' no extension or quotes).
And in terms of IPSec, you will still be able to get to the internet from home using your ISP, and also be able to talk to your work network. All the VPN really does is forward packets with a destination address that is contained in the other subnet's block to the IPSec "interface" for encryption and transmission.
