Probably because you don't have certain ports forwarded. Take a look at any denied packets in /var/log/messages that coincide with the attempts to transmit info. Thats all I or quite possibly anyone else can offer as your question was way too vague. Helpful info would include what program are you using to send files, what is your firewall setup / type etc are you seeing any denied packets and the like.
