Since you are on a cable modem - it is possible that you have neigbors 
who are using the same private IP (192.168.1.1) as your machine and are 
not running a LEAF firewall.  The martians are on the external 
interface, eth0, which is an adjacent network with lots of othe cable 
clients.

You might want to run a tcpdump on the LEAF box and look at the martian 
traffic a little closer.  I forget which version of Leaf you are running 
- but tcpdump is avalaible as an lrp - and is on the iso for Dachstein. 
  Once you know where it comes from, then you should be able to prevent 
it from being logged.
