What bad luck.  I have never had to do a bios upgrade to make a router
work in the dozen or so boxes I have set LEAF or LRP up on.  The only
irritating one was an old Dell 486-33 that lost video as soon as the
kernel booted... but I used another box to get the floppy working and then
relied on ssh.
