In the recent past, we have seen a lot of mail on partition size and associated problems. I initially had problems with MSDOS 8.3 name format and had to go thro' renaming object files. If we take the netfilter objects, it is particularly difficult with the long names where the difference comes only beyond the 8th character.
To resolve this, the process I followed was as under: 1. formatted a floppy and created a fs using ext2 on a linux machine 2. copied the object files from the linux machines to this floppy 3. loaded ext2.0 on bering /lib/modules 4. did a insmod of ext2 5. mounted the floppy on the bering machine 6. copied all the .o files to /lib/modules. 7. backed up modules using lrcfg. This, however, took away the convenience of preparing the distro on a windows machine. To resolve this, I tried hunting for solutions. I've located a GUI based tar software tar98 which seems to be the only one able to create tar files. Does anyone know of a similar software? Is there a way by which we can create ext2 fs floppies on Windows?
