Thanks Eric. I presume this means the ppp.lrp package is still needed
and has to be configured as well? 

As this person has no linux experience, he has to rely on me to
configure the Bering box remotely. It will likely be a problem trying to
configure ppp via him over the phone. Does anyone have working Bering
config files for Sprint DSL/PPPoE I could look at?
