Hi Scott,

Earlier this year I set up a firewall (echowall) on my
Dachstein router. It is working great so far. I am now trying to vpn
into my private network from a public network via PPTP. Below is a view
of my network and the location of my PPTP server. I am trying to access
this machine from a public network using the windows 2000 vpn client. I
made some adjustments on my echowall.conf file. I added PPTP and I set
the mac address to the machine that houses the PPTP server. I uncomented
the rules in the echowall.rules file for PPTP. I then added the module
pptp to my /etc/modules file so that it knows how to forward the PPTP
packets. I think i have it all set up properly, but when I try to log
into the vpn i get the error: 619 the specified port is not correct. I can
log into it successfully from a local machine on the network already. Any
suggestions? would it be better to put a vpn server on the daschstein router
itself? Would it be better to use an ipsec server? if so will i be able to
connect to it from windows?

Thanks again for your help.

Brian
