I have moved from Daschtein CD 1.02 to Bering stable, and want to express my thank-you to Bering folks.
I have 2 questions regarding Bering: 1. Does any one know the procedure to create a Bering CD similar to the one in DCD? I created Bering CD following the instructions and it works well. However I miss the CD structre in DCD 1.02, because you have all modules and packages you need ready on the CD. You just use the config files on the floppy to use them accordingly. In Bering you have to test the floppy first so it is not convenient and slow when you want to change NICs or help a friend to setup another box. 2. I have a private FTP server on a DMZ box. In DCD I have to setup the FTP server to enable passive mode and then open some passive ports and the FTP port for it to work. On Bering, I just open FTP in shorewall and do not touch anything with the passive ports. I just do not know why it works. I think that is one of the features of iptable. But then do I need to set up the FTP server to use passive mode or not? Thank you for your suggestions. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful.
