Charles can you help me, or do you know who can? Is it possible to do this and boot from the CD without having to recompile the kernel? I'm running out of time, the machine has to be operational by Jan 31 and it is but a small part of what has to be done.
You might also consider Bering and/or using a 2.4 kernel (such as the kernel from Bering), unless there is an absolute requirement for Dachstein. IIRC, the 2.4 kernels support PCMCIA much better than 2.2 kernels, but I could be wrong, since I don't work with portable stuff.
