Thanks for all your help with shorewall people, but there's yet more to come,
I've started implementing a bunch of DNAT rules just to my PC (for now), and everything is working sweet, except... MSN Messenger!! Now I know you've had this discussion a thousand times before, so I'm not going to talk about that. I DNAT'ed all the ports listed at www.practicallynetworked.com in two DNAT rules, one for TCP, one for UDP and it still doesn't work. But I don't want to know how to make that work. What I would like to know is SOCKS. 1) Am I right in thinking that if I run a SOCKS proxy behind my firewall, it will work? 2) Can I run a SOCKS proxy on my bering box? 3) It's not going to fit on a floppy is it? 4) If not, could I run the proxy on my WinXP box and have everybody connect to my PC and DNAT the proxies ports to my PC? 5) Any links to sites with free SOCKS packages out there?
