Hello All again, The alias interface in this new iproute2 system deosn't work as it use to work with ifconfig. Typically, when you aliased an interface wiht ifconfig the aliased interface would behave exactly like a phyiscal interface and would respond to all interface commands.
This seems to be not true in iproute2. as such, dhcpd and ppp/pppoe are not responding correctly. For example: pppoe starts up gets a connection and then tries to connect the socket to the interface. It fails at this time with error 19-operation not supported by device. Because of space constraints in my gateway box, i really need to be able to build this box with a virtual interface. Is there any documentation on the pppoe parameters so that i can force the attribution on the connection onto the alias interface? ---- Thomas Fischer mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Apple, WinNT, e-Mail, Groupware mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SlickEdit Inc.
