It means you're using the wrong ethernet driver. The FA310 cards use the tulilp driver. The FA311 cards are comletely different. IIRC, they use the natsemi driver, and I have also provided the driver from Netgear (fa311.o), which you can find in the kernel tarball, or download individually from my site:
