Module installs fine but won't bring up the modem. Hardware is fine since it can still be brought up in rc2 without any hesitation. anyone have any ideas?
Serial drivers do not "bring up" modems. They provide communication between the kernel and a UART-driven serial port (which might in turn connect to a modem, which you would access using an appropriate program, perhaps pppd for a router link). Please post a follow-up in which you describe your problem -- what you are attempting, what hardware you are attempting it on, and what you see that you interpret as a failure -- more clearly.
