/etc/network/interfaces is for assigning network protocols to devices.

Duplex setting is a device-specific setting, and is configured when the
device driver is loaded.  Add options to the /etc/modules file... I
recommend googling for your driver module name and "duplex", since some of
them have fairly involved methods of setting duplex.

In some cases, you may have to use a configuration program to set the
duplex mode.
