Now that is a question I have puzzled over in the negative... why _shouldn't_ you? I know it is inconvenient to release a disk image that has to be configured to start at a nearby upstream cache, but isn't that more friendly to the root servers? True, you are reducing the pounding on them by caching your _own_ repeat queries, but if all of us masqueraders uses our own copies of dnscache then we haven't improved the overloading situation for the root servers. Why bother them if the answer is nearby?
