Yes suppose that WWWRaymond is you login and PAGESecret is your password than you have to have in your pppoe option file a name "WWWRaymond" or user "WWWRaymond"

Thanks for all the input, this helps a lot. What I tried to tell you is 1. debug was not set with debug 7 so the first part of the communication isn't in the log file 2. There is some"thing" communicating with you in pppoe mode. ( probably your provider) 3. your side rejected pap and chap authentification. this is mostly because you don't have a corresponging username-password pair. 4.
