This looks like an MTU problem -- have you set CLAMPMSS=Yes in shorewall.conf?
Yes. CLAMPMSS=Yes in /etc/shorewall.conf mtu reported at 1492 for the ppp0 - ppoe external connection. mtu for ethernet interfaces is 1500
