Eric and everyone :

I've changed to the latest pppd on CVS and that problem was solved.
Thanks for the tip!

But now, I have another problem (this time with the pppoe connection,
not with the pptp tunnel).
When I changed to the latest ppp.lrp and pppoe.lrp packages, my pppoe
connection don't work properly. The issue is that the option "persist"
don't work at all.
If the dsl line goes down, the process that keeps trying to connect,
disappears (with the other version of pppd, that was no happening)

Here is my /etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider file :

plugin /usr/lib/pppd/rp-pppoe.so
pty "pppoe -I eth1 -T 80 -m 1452"

noipdefault
hide-password
lcp-echo-interval 20
lcp-echo-failure 3

connect /bin/true

noauth
persist
usepeerdns
maxfail 0
name <username>

And here the pppd log file :

Sep 29 12:36:07 Bering pppd[14452]: Plugin /usr/lib/pppd/rp-pppoe.so
loaded. Sep 29 12:36:07 Bering pppd[14452]: RP-PPPoE plugin version 3.3

As you can see in the last 2 lines, the pppd appears to try only 1 or 2
times after the dsl line gone down, and then the pppd procces disappears
(pid: 23715)

Any suggestions? ... Besides a script in the crontab that check the pppd
every 5 minutes ;)

Thanks in advance.

Mariano

Thank you Eric.

- In fact, as you said, I remebered that I wasn't using the last ppp
package (for size problems).
- The version of pptp I'm using is the latest in CVS.
- The pptp interface was ppp1 because ppp0 was the DSL connection (I
make the VPN connection trought the ADSL line, ppp0)

I will try with the latest pppd from the CVS and I'll post my
experience.

Thanks.

Mariano

Mariano,

I forwarded your question to Eric de Thouars, he is also using
Bering_uClibc with pptp. He doesn't have a solution for your
problems, but he does have some pointers that can help you to solve
it.

First some questions:
You are using Bering_uClibc 2.0 beta4, that one contatins pppd- 2.4.2b3.
But according to your log, you are using pppd-2.4.1. Are you
using some older packages with beta4?

Which version of pptp are you using? 1.3.1-1 is the latest in CVS.
