Too bad, there's another issue I noticed with pppd. I haven't checked in v1.2 yet, and I don't know if this is the right place to report it, but I did notice another issue with pppd: it didn't always terminate the link after the idle period expired. If that wasn't fixed it's probably still an issue. It might be a Shorewall interaction, because I think I once read somewhere that activity from the net zone could keep the timer alive after the local zone had shutdown.
