Hi Eric,

pcnet_cs depends on pcmcia_core.o
ds.o and 8390.o

please try this modules.
This informations is from the modules.dep file (not tested)

All this is given. I had a look into the modules.dep too ;-) I found two versions of 8390.o in the modules.tgz. I tried both... Currently I have no problems anymore to load pcnet_cs.o.

But the device eth0 is not running.

ifup -a (typed.first.time)
 reports "operation not supported" (or.some.thing.similar)
ifup -a (typed.second.time)
 reports "Device already configured"

Funny. ip link set eth0 up address 1.1.1.1 reports
"Operation not supported"

my /etc/network/interfaces for eth0:
---------------------------- snip
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
       address 192.168.1.1
       masklen 24
       broadcast 192.168.1.255
---------------------------- snap

"ip link show" always only has its own io and loopback device.

Question: Should not the devicedriver have *some* output, if it loads its device ?
pcnet_cs does not say anything (console,messages..nothing)
when it loads.

Thanks for your time !
