I am using DSL with a Bering 1.2/Shorewall firewall in
a standard configuration with 4 PC's (Windows XP),
light traffic for over a year at small school with no
problems.

I'm adding a library program (ProCite) which uses the
Z39.50 standard to search and retrieve information
from remote library collections (both free and
private). Typical ports it requires to be opened are
200, 220, 210, 2020, 2100, 2210, 8210, 2003 etc. Am I
ok just opening the ports in Shorewall,
(/etc/shorewall/rules) to safely meet this
requirement? Or are there additional features of
Bering and Shorewall I need to use? Suggestions are
very much welcome.

Thanks
