Thanks Henning,
>From your note, I gather there is an IDE module that if loaded will
perhaps discover the existing hard drive. I (like most) prefer to boot
from floppy and have most config files in RAM disk. I understand that
booting from HD is less secure (don't know why, really).

I am back to Bering 1.2 now, so I find under
http://leaf.sourceforge.net/devel/jnilo/bering/latest/modules/2.4.20/ker
nel/fs/
two possibilities vfat.o and umsdos.o

I googled for ide modules for 2.4.20 and found (not on any leaf site)
Ide-disk, ide-cd, ide-mod and ide-probe-mod.o
To use an ide drive for logging, would I need all of these?

(BTW, I downloaded the huge leaf-guide-collection of documentation and
did a search for hard drive HD, etc. The only information I found was
about booting from HD.)

Thx,
Rick

Then you dont need hdsupp.lrp: just get the IDE-Moduls, did you already
read the fine manual ?
You could place most of the LRPs onto a CD and boot from floppy. I got
the same problem: my old notebook does not boot from CD but I use the CD

as place for LRP's.
