Hi Johan,

Hello.

I'm using Bering uclibc 2.2.2 as modem server and firewall for a small home network.

Currently we connect to the isp by starting a ssh client and giving the command "pon" and disconnect with "poff".

What I would like, is to go to the firewall web page and just click on a link saying "start modem", or whatever. I have tried to understand the workings of cgi scripts, tried to make my own, but gotten nowhere.
I'm using the stock sh-httpd server.
Take a look at https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=718031&group_id=13751&atid=676164

The short version is: it will most likely not work from your webserver without either running the webserver as root, or by writing a C program (a shell script will not be enough) to execute pom/poff (and set the SETUID bit of that executable).

An alternative that should work out of the box is to use LrpStat and define "Actions" (see http://lrp.hejl.de for docs on lrpStat) - I used that myself, when I was still using dialup.

I hope that helps.

Martin
