Hello Sergio, Is the only problem that you can't ping the firewall from the notebook? Or do you also have other connection problems.
You could look at the output of "shorewall hits" to see if the pings are blocked. But like Erich said, we need some more info like logs, tcpdump and config details to really say something useful.
